B1BS & BOBs

Who we are

Barton 1st Baby Support and Barton Older Babies (B1BS & BOBs) are a group of parents and grandparents lead by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who are keen to support local families.

What we do

B1BS and BOBs is a place for parents and grandparents to meet up to talk and eat cake whilst babies and toddlers play together, sing songs and read stories.

B1BS was originally set up in the Covid-19 pandemic to provide a safe supportive place for new parents to meet and provided a much needed place to get support and socialize. As the babies grew and restrictions reduced our group evolved into a baby and toddler group but our ethos of creating a relaxed and supportive place has remained at the core of the group.

“B1bs isn’t like any other mum and baby group. It is a place where you feel supported, welcomed and included. Elijah and I started attending when he was only 8 weeks old. The mums, babies and team of wonderful ladies have become constants in both of our lives. You can open up to anyone there, you can ask any questions and you will get answers back from people who genuinely care for your well-being. We love going to B1bs because we feel accepted. We love going to B1bs because we have made lifelong friendships. We love B1bs.”

“ I joined B1Bs when it first started and my little girl was 6 months. It was during lockdown and up until this point, she had not met another baby, and to be completely honest, my mental health wasn’t in the greatest of places. Since then, we have met the most wonderful set of friends, for both me and her, and we feel that B1Bs have become our extended family. We are able to talk openly and honestly, share stories, ideas and mum fails without judgement, only support. We come every week without fail as it’s like a warm hug for both of us. And cake. There’s always cake. Xx”

“Being a first time mum during covid felt lonely, my son was premature, I was scared and I had no idea what I was doing. Finding B1Bs really was a godsend, it was the perfect place to meet other mums and babies who were in the same position, I could get advice on feeding or moan about sleeping (or lack of!!) with a cup of tea and a cake and know that we weren’t alone! Noah has made friends and I have too, it’s a wonderful outlet for mums and a great opportunity for babies to socialise and play, I’m so grateful for the support and love that we have been shown at this group and do think it has given us friends for life!”

“On Tuesdays we go to church for our baby group, It’s one of the highlights of our week. Rosie absolutely loves going, meeting the most beautiful babies and has explored every corner of our church at least three times over including her favorite… the organ! But genuinely we have made such great friends from the most supportive group of ladies including the vicar and her team. In the last year of complete uncertainty and instability, It’s filled a giant space for socialization and friendship. I’m so thankful for my little lifeline for myself and Roo. We Love B1BS.”
