Role of the PCC & Sub-Committees:
(updated 14/12/07)
Members are elected by the Parish Annual General Meeting and are responsible with the Churchwardens and the Vicar for the running of All Saints Church. The Church Council (PCC) meets about 6 times a year and much of the work is delegated to the six sub-committees, who have extra members to help carry out the work.
We are always keen to encourage people to join our committees and help. People are not expected to be on a committee for life! The 6 sub committees are: Buildings, Finance, Socials, Stewardship, Tower, and Worship & Outreach. Please have a word with the wardens or vicar if you would like to find out more.
The first meeting of the new PCC was on Thursday 10th May when the officers, secretary and treasurer etc were elected and the sub-committees re-formed.

Most recent meeting:
The PCC met in 3rd week of January 2008
There was a discussion about the Christmas services,
which were well attended, especially of course Carols
in the Square which attracted about 2000 people.
The PCC also discussed the forthcoming Lent Discussion
Groups on the Lord's Prayer and other aspects of our
Growing Together programme.
Approval was given for a new security gate for the
Tower to stop persistent attacks of vandalism.
The Buildings committee was thanked for their recent
work on security, the most obvious part being the
installation of a floodlight for the church car park,
making it much safer after dark

CHURCH
COUNCIL MEETING - There was a very full meeting of the
PCC recently, which included discussion of the
following.
Growing Together-11 candidates recently confirmed from
our church, Men's breakfast good, another being
planned; Women's breakfast 12th Jan, All Bears pre
school service now running on second Thursday at
2.15pm, 'Powerhouse' prayer session in church, 'Start'
discussion group had gone well, further sessions
planned and other discussion groups for Lent.
Budget for 2008 had been passed with some difficulty as
we have a shortage of income to pay for our general
expenditure- electricity, paper, our work in the
community etc. We have to pay a very large amount to
the diocese in Parish Share.
'Tower' magazine. Eryl thanked for her work, Mike Grant
has joined the editors and presented some exciting
proposals for the 'Tower'. A new group has been formed
to assist in writing articles.
Protecting our Buildings- proposals to put in place
various measures including CCTV approved,
application for funding has been submitted.
A bequest from the late Don White has been received,
directed to be spent on the fabric and the actual
tower; there is an urgent need to refurbish the choir
vestry, put in heating and proper storage to protect
contents from damp and provide a usable area for
childrens activities etc so plans are being drawn up.
Wheelchair- We have been given a wheelchair, which will
be stored in the church, another possible one available
for the hall.
Thanks given to Socials committee and other groups for
their hard work, a very successful quiz
night.
