We Need Your Help

Following the success of the Lent course, which looked at the Lord’s Prayer, we are going to offer other short courses through the year. The next one will be in the autumn and we really need your help to select the one you would find most interesting or helpful. There are 3 courses briefly outlined below, simply number them 1, 2, 3, with 1 as your first choice and we will offer the most popular in the autumn. Simple!

Sunday club
This week the schools break up and various church activities stop for the Summer break. There are no more Sunday Clubs until the 7th of September, when they resume. There will be some activities or children at the morning services from mid August.

Thank you
Our thanks to Bill Jenkins who has made another notice board for the church, which has now been fixed outside the church hall.

Bungoma
Catherine Johnson writes: Thank you to everyone who attended the shared supper to welcome Joseph Weswa from Bungoma. The evening was a lovely occasion when we were able to hear about developments in our link parish. Proceeds from the Traidcraft stalls/coffee mornings were handed to Joseph, and this money will be used to help a secondary school in Malakisi. Please remember Bungoma in your prayers as life in Kenya is still very difficult for many.

Julia Anderson & Nicky Smith add: Our Fairtrade work has raised £1380 for our link parish over the last two years. We hope Joseph Weswa was able to learn something about the life of Earls Barton as we learnt about life in Bungoma. A special thank you to all who have helped and supported our coffee mornings. There are
NO summer coffee mornings, they restart in September.

Strawberry Fair
Visitors enjoyed a lovely day at our Strawberry Fair on the 14th of June. The sun shone on Lesley Barker’s beautiful garden and the strawberries and cream went down a treat. Photos by Wendy Grant Photography.

Copies of the photos can be bought for a small donation to church funds. Please see Mike Grant.

Crusaders
Our Crusader group, which meets on Wednesday evenings for young people, is going well with good numbers but needs more leaders, who it is hoped can go on a rota. Leaders both run activities like games and discussion groups bit also operate the tuck shop or to support the main leaders. Further details from Nicky Smith.

Maintenance Working Party

In order to tackle some of the smaller jobs identified in the Quinquennial building's report, we are hoping to organise 2 more working Saturday mornings on 2nd August and the 6th September. We would welcome as many helpful volunteers as possible. The jobs are mainly general house-keeping both internally and externally although some work is required on the roof. Please contact John Metcalfe or Tom Moore if you can offer to help.

Playscheme 2008 Revised Notice
This will run from 18th – 22nd August. A week's activities for primary school age children – crafts, sport, worship, outings, all for £25.00 per child.  The infant places are now full, there are some junior places remaining. We shall need a large number of volunteers both adults and teenagers to help with craft activities etc. and lunchtime cover.  Sandra Jordan is leading a team to organize the volunteers and would be pleased to receive names.
